Fall Out Boy gets creative with pre-order packages for their greatest hits album

So recently Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) shaved Pete Wentz's (Fall Out Boy) head. Pete claimed it was the "death of the emo haircut." This may sound similar to Jay-Z's campaign for his album The Blueprint 3 with "Death of Auto-tune". That was intentional on Pete's part. But what on earth did Pete decide to do with his hair? Read the following:

Kind of creepy. But in a weird way it is genius. Fall Out Boy did something similar in the past, except with their blood. They mixed a vile of their blood in the ink used on the album artwork for their album Folie A Deux.

  1. Well, I guess this could be cool. If you're a die hard fan of FOB... But really, they know that their die hard fans will eat this up. Either way, it's a great way to boost sales for a "greatest hits" album

  2. agreed. i think its really weird. im trying to figure out whats weirder: that pete wentz is giving fans his hair? or that fans actually want his hair? its a tough call. But yea, its pretty smart in a marketing sense.

  3. Not a big fan of Fall Out Boy, but I really dont like Pete Wentz and think this is just weird as hell. But while I don't like the guy I'll always be the first to admit that he is smart and knows how to sell his image whether its the bars and salons he owns, Fall Out Boy or whatever, he knows what he's doing. I think it's going to be funny to see how many kids show up at FOB shows with shaved heads now too.

  4. I think this will sell because it will be the last big thing Fall Out Boy will be putting out there, since they announced that they won't be touring again for a long time. Whether it be the most expensive or something worth less. Plus there are other bundles for this CD on other sites, and I know people will be deciding on the best package. The packages above are only available for fan club members, and I know how crazy they can get.

  5. I think that having multiple editions of any album is a good idea these days. You know that some die-hard fans will be buying that $129.99 premium edition.
The lock of hair though? That is really weird in my opinion. I guess for those crazy fans that are trying to complete their life-size Pete Wentz doll, it will be a great addition to their work so far.
I like the typo that they made on their news post too, I guess fans will be staying tuned to that "New" section!
